ISLAMABAD, January 31, 2017 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas held talks on Tuesday with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the two leaders later inaugurated the Palestine embassy in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.
President Abbas told a press conference that he briefed Sharif during their meeting on the latest developments in Palestine and the difficult conditions the Palestinian people live under as a result of the Israeli occupation and settlement construction.
He also told his Pakistani host about the dangers of moving the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
“I informed the prime minister on the dangers of moving the US embassy to Jerusalem as well as the destructive effects of settlement activities and land confiscation by the Israeli occupation authorities on the implementation of the two-state solution and peace-making in our region,” said Abbas at the press conference.
The two leaders also discussed mutual relations, which Abbas described as “solid” and “honest,” and ways to strengthen and develop these relations to the benefit of both people and countries.
