US forces launch airstrikes on multiple targets across Iran

RAMALLAH, June 10, 2026 (WAFA) – US forces launched late last night  a series of airstrikes targeting Iranian sites, which they said were in retaliation for the downing of a US Apache attack helicopter.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that the operation was carried out under the direct orders of President Donald Trump, describing it as a "proportionate" response to what it considered Iranian aggression against US forces.

CENTCOM explained that the strikes targeted air defense systems, ground control stations, and radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz, noting that US forces remain fully prepared to counter any further threats. It also asserted that the operation was also intended to protect international navigation and commercial vessels in the region.

In response, Iran announced that it had launched missile and drone attacks against US targets and bases in several countries in the region.

Iranian media reported explosions in several areas of southern Iran, including Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, Jask, and Sirik, while Iranian state television announced the downing of a US MQ-9 Reaper drone over Bushehr province.
