Israel’s Punitive Demolition of Qalandia House Focus of Dailies

RAMALLAH, April 21, 2016 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Thursday issue on the Israeli forces’ punitive demolition of the house of a Palestinian teenager – suspected of stabbing Israeli soldiers – in Qalandia refugee camp, north of Jerusalem.

The dailies said Israeli troops broke into Qalandia refugee camp, before they demolished the house of Hussein Abu Ghush, a Palestinian teenager who was shot dead by Israeli forces on January 25, after he allegedly stabbed and injured some of them near Ramallah.

Meanwhile, the dailies said 19-year-old Abdul-Hamid Abu Srour, a Palestinian from Aida refugee camp near Bethlehem, died of his wounds which he sustained in an Israeli bus explosion in West Jerusalem on April 18.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Quds said Palestinian detainees in the Israeli Nafha prison, south of Israel, suspended protesting measures which they had started in protest of the repeated assaults against them by the Israeli prison guards.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Fatah Youth Organization, the student wing of Fatah movement, won the Student Council election in the Palestine Polytechnic University in Hebron, with 16 seats for Fatah compared to 12 seats for Hamas’ student party.

The three dailies, including al-Ayyam, said Israeli security forces announced they had uncovered a far-right Jewish organization, involved in a serried of attacks against Palestinian targets in the West Bank in the past few years.
