Newspaper Review: West Bank Clashes, Injuries Focus of Dailies

RAMALLAH, December 13, 2015 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused on Sunday on renewing clashes across the West Bank between Israeli troops and youths, during which dozens of youths were injured with live and rubber baton rounds.

Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said Israel’s Minister of Agriculture, Uri Ariel, called for banning Palestinians’ movement in the illegal Gush Etzion settlement zone in southern West Bank.

Al-Quds said the Anti-Settlement and Wall Commission said it will refer to the Israeli judiciary to protest against Israel’s settlement activities and demolition of Palestinians’ properties in the Jordan Valley.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Israeli army stormed a library in Ramallah and a medical dispensary in Bethlehem.

Al-Ayyam said Israeli forces obstructed a project to construct a fence around Palestine Technical University (Kadoorie) in Tulkarm, after classes were temporarily held due to continuing clashes between students and Israeli troops throughout the past three months.

Al-Quds quoted Hamas official Ismail Haniya, who said that the current Palestinian ‘intifada’ obstructed Israel’s attempts to divide al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem between Muslims and Jews.

Al-Ayyam said Israeli settlers assaulted an injured Palestinian shepherd in the northern Jordan Valley on Saturday

Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam said Palestine officially acceded to the United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change.
