RAMALLAH, December 10, 2015 (WAFA) –
Israeli authorities Thursday extended the detention of journalist, Mohammad
al-Qeeq, 33 years old, and injured prisoner, Azmi Nafa’, 21 years old, from
Jenin.
The Israeli prison authority
extended the detention of al-Qeeq, who has been on hunger strike for 16 days in
protest of his detention.
Palestinian Prisoners Society’s (PPS)
attorney, Saleh Ayoub, said al-Qeeq is continuing his hunger strike and is
currently detained in al-Jalama Detention Centre. Ayoub submitted a request to
open an investigation into the detention of al-Qeeq.
Meanwhile, Israeli authorities extended
the detention of Nafa’, who is now in al-Ramla hospital, for the third time, under the pretext of completing the investigation.
Nafa’s father said his son’s health
situation is stable, but he suffers from fractures in his hand and difficulty
to speak due to the injuries he sustained when Israeli soldiers detained him at
Za’tara checkpoint, two weeks ago.
Israel claimed Nafa’ allegedly tried
to run over Israeli soldiers at Za’tara checkpoint, his father said.
To be noted, Israeli authorities
extended the detention of 46 Palestinian prisoners in detention and
interrogation centers, under the pretext of completing the investigation and
judicial proceedings.
