HEBRON, December 10, 2015
(WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in Thursday’s issue on
Israeli troops’ shooting and killing of a Palestinian youth in Hebron,
allegedly after he stabbed and injured an Israeli settler and a soldier.
The papers said
Abdur-Rahman Meswadi, 21, was fatally shot by Israeli fire in the Old City
neighborhood in Hebron, allegedly after he stabbed and injured an Israeli
settler and a soldier.
Al-Quds said, according
to Israeli daily Haaretz, Israeli authorities have froze issuing construction
permits to Palestinians in East Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, al-Hayat
al-Jadida said three Israelis, including two settlers and a soldier, were
injured in two separate incidents in Hebron and Tulkarm.
Al-Ayyam said one of the
settlers who were injured was the leader of a secret Jewish organization.
The three dailies
highlighted remarks made by President Mahmoud Abbas, who said Palestinian
children and youths were the main target of daily Israeli assaults.
The dailies said US
President Barack Obama called on Palestinians and Israelis to alleviate the
current tension and resort to dialogue.
Al-Ayyam reported on the
US embassy in Jerusalem, which denied that the US was backing Israeli
settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and
al-Ayyam said Israel’s deputy Minister of “Defense” Eli Ben-Dahan said he was
willing to donate 50,000 shekels ($13,000) to contribute in reconstructing the
so-called “Jewish temple” on the site of al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem.
