TULKAREM, February
19, 2015 (WAFA) – Israeli forces early Thursday detained11 Palestinians
from various West Bank districts, said security sources.
Israeli forces
raided several neighborhoods across Tulkarem including Tulkarem refugee camp,
Iktaba and Dhannaba, where they detained six Palestinians after breaking into and
ransacking their houses.
The detainees were
identified as Jamal Hattab, 31, Rami Abu Shalbaya, 32, Shadi ‘Odeh, 33, Mahmoud
‘Is‘is, 31, ‘Omar Turk, 33, and Ahmad ‘Odwan, 33.
Meanwhile in Hebron
city, forces raided several neighborhoods, including Ras al-Jora, where they
detained two Palestinians after breaking into their houses.
The detainees were
identified as Qidar Ghaith and Bassam Masodeh. Their ages remain unidentified.
In the meantime in
Nablus district, soldiers raided Zawata, a village to the north of the city,
where they detained Islam Judeh, whose age was not identified, after breaking
into his house.
The soldiers also
stormed Balata refugee camp, where they proceeded to detain a Palestinian after
breaking into his house.
Muhammad al-Ryahi,
whose age remains unidentified, was detained during the dawn raid.
They also stormed
the Nablus city neighborhood of Krum ‘Ashur, where they detained a Palestinian. Mahdi ‘Ashur was detained
during the dawn raid.
Israeli forces in
the West Bank detain Palestinians almost every day during night time raids
involving breaking into and ransacking Palestinians houses and spreading panic
among vulnerable civilians, particularly children.
The Palestinian
prisoner’s Club (PPC) reported that Israel has detained 350
Palestinians from several cities and towns across the West Bank districts in
January 2015 alone. With the highest number of detention documented in Hebron,
amounting to 120 arrests, followed by East Jerusalem, where 20 Palestinians
were detained.
The Hebron raids
included 25 minors and eight students, in addition to 16 residents suffering
from various health problems and two females aged 22 and 26. Around 37
residents were placed under administrative detention.
More than 6,500
Palestinian political prisoners are currently held in Israeli jails, dozens of
whom are serving multiple life sentences. About 1,500 prisoners are believed to
have health problems due to medical negligence.
