Presidency welcomes Chilean President's decision to withdraw military attachés from Tel Aviv

RAMALLAH, May 28, 2025 (WAFA) – The Presidency on Wednesday welcomed Chilean President Gabriel Boric's decision to withdraw military attachés from his country's embassy in Tel Aviv.

The Chilean government announced the withdrawal of its military, defense, and air attachés from Tel Aviv over the ongoing Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, which has killed 54,084 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 123,308 others.

The Presidency characterized the Chilean President's decision as both significant and courageous, affirming it reflects international condemnation of the crimes, fatalities, destruction, and starvation being perpetrated by the occupying authorities against the Palestinian people.

Furthermore, the Presidency viewed Chile's decision as an additional measure to exert pressure on the occupying authorities to halt their genocidal war against the Palestinian people.

It emphasized the necessity for this to be followed by serious and immediate international stances, stressing that these positions must compel the occupying state to cease its bloody conflict in the Gaza Strip and its attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

Such actions, the Presidency said, must also ensure compliance with international legitimacy resolutions and international law, which unequivocally prohibit genocide and the killing of Palestinians in the occupied territory, incursions into Palestinian cities, villages, and camps, land theft through ongoing colonization and colonizers terrorism, and assaults on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
