RAMALLAH,
November 24, 2014 (WAFA) – Six Palestinians detained in Israeli Rimon prison
were injured on Monday, including two seriously, after a special police
contingent stormed the prison cells, brutally attacking prisoners.
Two
prisoners, who were identified as Issa Jabarin and Adel Nashash sustained
critical injuries and were subsequently transferred to a nearby hospital for
medical treatment, said Issa Qaraqe, head of the Committee for Prisoners’
Affairs.
He said four
other prisoners were also injured in the Israeli offensive but were not transferred
for treatment.
Other
prisoners were consequently moved to solitary confinement cells as means of
punishment by the Israeli Prison Service, added Qaraqe.
The committee
said tense conditions have prevailed in the prison since yesterday, which
followed a surge in Israeli search incursions into the prisoners’ rooms
especially at midnight.
To be noted,
more than 5,000 Palestinians are detained in Israeli jails, of whom at least 470 inmates
are sentenced to life imprisonment, according to the Palestinian Ministry of
Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs.
