ROME, June 12, 2025 (WAFA) — In a joint statement issued Thursday evening, the foreign ministers of France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, and the United Kingdom, along with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
The statement followed a high-level meeting held in the Italian capital, Rome, focused on security in the Euro-Atlantic region and the ongoing war in Ukraine. The summit was also attended by NATO Secretary General and the Ukrainian Foreign Minister.
"We will strengthen our partnerships in regions impacting our security to counter instability and promote peace and prosperity, particularly in the Mediterranean, Africa, the Western Balkans, the Black Sea region, and the Middle East and North Africa," the European ministers stated.
In this context, they urged an immediate halt to the war in Gaza, the urgent resumption of humanitarian aid access to the territory, and the release of all hostages.
