OIC condemns Israeli assault on Qalandiya camp, warns of attempts to liquidate refugee cause

JEDDAH, Thursday, August 6, 2026 (WAFA) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the Israeli occupation’s assault on Qalandiya refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem.

In a statement issued Thursday, the OIC said the assault comes amid reports warning of the possibility of expanding Israeli aggression against other refugee camps in the West Bank.

It stressed that the raid on Qalandiya camp constitutes a flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and relevant United Nations resolutions.

The OIC warned of the seriousness of the escalation, saying it is part of systematic Israeli plans aimed at dismantling and destroying refugee camps in the West Bank, destroying the Gaza Strip, and targeting the presence, institutions, facilities, and employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

It said these measures are part of attempts to liquidate the refugee cause and undermine its legal, political, and humanitarian foundations.

The organization renewed its call on the international community to take immediate and urgent action to pressure Israel to halt the assault and siege against Qalandiya camp and all Palestinian refugee camps in the West Bank, provide support to UNRWA, and protect the rights of refugees, including their right of return, in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions, particularly Resolution 194.
