Vice President discusses conditions of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons with prisoners' institutions

RAMALLAH, July 20, 2026 (WAFA) - Vice President Hussein Al Sheikh met today with a delegation from the Higher Commission for the Affairs of Prisoners and Detainees and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club to discuss the latest political developments and the evolving situation regarding Palestinian detainees in the occupation's prisons.

This took place during a meeting that included Amin Shuman, President of the Higher Commission for the Affairs of Prisoners and Detainees, and Abdullah Al-Zagari, President of the Prisoners' Club, in the presence of representatives from the national action factions and representatives from institutions working in the field of prisoners and detainees.

The vice president received a detailed briefing on the difficult conditions faced by detainees in the occupation's detention camps, amid ongoing violations and arbitrary measures inflicted upon them, including policies of retribution, medical neglect, and isolation, which constitute a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

The delegation reviewed the efforts exerted by the Commission and the Prisoners' Club in following up on the detainees' conditions, emphasizing the importance of unifying national and international efforts to defend their rights and intensifying pressure on the occupation to halt its ongoing violations against them.
