JEDDAH, July 17, 2026 (WAFA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in collaboration with the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP), is holding an international conference on Jerusalem, entitled "Jerusalem: The Frontline of Displacement and Annexation and the Key to Achieving a Just and Lasting Peace," on Saturday, 18 July 2026, in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt.
The conference will be attended by officials, diplomats, religious leaders, experts, and representatives of international and regional organizations, as well as a select group of academics and researchers.
The conference aims to highlight Israeli policies of forced displacement and dispossession of the Palestinian people in the city of Jerusalem through the accelerating pace of Judaization within the context of ongoing policies and practices across the rest of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly in light of the continuing war in the Gaza Strip and the accompanying attacks and large-scale forced displacement of the Palestinian civilian population.
The Conference reviews the support provided by the Organization of Islamic Co-operation and the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People for the adoption of international measures to relaunch the Middle East peace process on the basis of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, leading to the achievement of a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace and ensuring the establishment of an independent State of Palestine on the borders of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
