RAMALLAH, June 21, 2026 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Sunday condemned the Israeli occupation authorities' decision to prevent a Greek trade union delegation from entering the State of Palestine and deport its members after subjecting them to interrogation and detention for several hours.
In a statement, the Ministry said the delegation had responded to an official invitation from the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions to participate in a solidarity visit with the Palestinian labor movement. However, Israeli authorities denied the delegation entry and proceeded with its deportation.
The Ministry described the measure as an arbitrary and unlawful act that constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and trade union freedoms. It said the move directly targets the growing wave of international solidarity with the Palestinian people and their national institutions and represents an attempt to isolate Palestinians and prevent international delegations and solidarity activists from witnessing the realities of Israeli violations and crimes.
The Ministry stressed that Israel not only continues to violate the rights and fundamental freedoms of the Palestinian people, but also targets international supporters and foreign delegations by infringing upon rights and freedoms guaranteed under international law. It said such measures aim to silence voices supporting Palestinian rights and prevent international witnesses from observing the realities of the occupation and its practices in the occupied Palestinian territory.
The Ministry called on the international community, relevant international and human rights organizations, the International Labour Organization, the International Trade Union Confederation, and the global trade union movement to condemn these practices and take serious and practical steps to pressure Israeli authorities to end their arbitrary measures against international delegations and solidarity activists.
It also urged the international community to ensure that Israel complies with its legal obligations under international law and allows international delegations and institutions access to the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, enabling them to carry out their activities freely.
