Palestinian Embassy in Tajikistan marks 78th Nakba anniversary

RAMALLAH, May 23, 2026 (WAFA) – The Embassy of the State of Palestine in the Republic of Tajikistan commemorated the 78th anniversary of the Nakba (Catastrophe) of the Palestinian people in 1948 in the capital, Dushanbe, with official, diplomatic, and public attendance.

The event was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Sharifzoda Farukh Hamiddin, Deputy Interior Minister Valizoda Ilhamiddin Sirojiddin, several ambassadors and diplomats accredited to the Republic of Tajikistan, and a large gathering of friends and supporters of the Palestinian cause.

In his address, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine, Adham Zein El-Din, affirmed that the series of Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people has not ceased. He emphasized that attempts to deny the crimes of the Zionist movement and the occupation forces will not erase the truth or obliterate memory, and that history cannot be erased and justice does not expire with time.

He pointed out that targeting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and preventing it from carrying out its duties in the occupied Palestinian territory constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and United Nations resolutions.

He called on the countries of the world to continue supporting the agency, providing it with the necessary funding, and to confront attempts to undermine its role. He called for genuine and effective international action to end the ongoing historical injustice against the Palestinian people, which has become a stain on humanity.

Ambassador Zainuddin expressed his appreciation to the Republic of Tajikistan, its leadership and people, for their unwavering support of the rights of the Palestinian people.

The commemoration included a photo exhibition documenting the events of the Nakba, a short film summarizing its key moments, and a series of videos highlighting the practices of the occupation, particularly against Palestinian prisoners, the death penalty law, and settler attacks.

The event also featured scenes documenting the suffering of children in the Gaza Strip and Tajik musical performances embodying the values of peace and hope.
