RAMALLAH, May 20, 2026 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met on Wednesday with a German official delegation headed by State Secretary of the German Federal Foreign Office Bernhard Kotsch, in the presence of Germany’s Representative to Palestine Anke Schlimm, where they discussed bilateral relations between the two sides, as well as the latest political, economic and humanitarian developments in the occupied Palestinian Territory.
Prime Minister Mustafa stressed the importance of the visit amid the critical circumstances facing the Palestinian cause and the region, praising Germany’s position in support of the two-state solution and its role in backing political and humanitarian efforts aimed at achieving stability and alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.
Mustafa briefed the German delegation on the ongoing Israeli escalation on the ground, particularly the attacks by the occupation forces and colonists in the occupied West Bank, including escalating violence by colonists against citizens and their property, as well as the restrictions on movement imposed through military checkpoints and closures, and the continued colonization policies and unilateral measures that undermine prospects for peace.
He also warned of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip amid continued Israeli violations of the ceasefire and the obstruction of sufficient humanitarian and relief aid entry, stressing the need for tangible progress toward ending the humanitarian suffering, scaling up relief efforts and basic services, and advancing reconstruction efforts.
The Prime Minister emphasized the political and legal authority of the Palestinian government over the entire occupied Palestinian Territory, including Gaza, stressing the importance of supporting the unity of Palestinian institutions and enabling the government to exercise its responsibilities across all territories.
Mustafa called on the international community to pressure Israel to release withheld Palestinian clearance revenues, given their direct impact on the government’s ability to meet its obligations toward citizens, and to put an end to colonists’ violence and unilateral Israeli measures, which pose a serious threat to the establishment of a geographically contiguous Palestinian state.
For his part, the German State Secretary reaffirmed his country’s continued monitoring of developments in the occupied Palestinian Territory and its firm position in support of the two-state solution and rejection of unilateral Israeli measures, particularly colonial settlement plans, especially in the E1 area, due to their threat to the two-state solution and prospects for peace.
He stressed the need to halt attacks by the occupation forces and colonists against Palestinians and to ensure the immediate and sufficient entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip to alleviate the deepening humanitarian crisis.
The German official reiterated Germany’s continued support for humanitarian and development efforts, and its cooperation with international partners to promote stability and advance political progress.
