EU rejects the so-called “Orange Line” in Gaza

BRUSEELS, May 5, 2026 (WAFA) – The European Union announced its rejection of any change to territorial control in the Gaza Strip, following Israel’s establishment of the so-called “orange line” in the Strip.

Anwar Al-Anouni, spokesperson for the EU’s foreign affairs office, stated in a press briefing that the EU rejects this move, which increases the area of land under Israeli control to more than 60% of the Gaza Strip, instead of implementing the additional withdrawals stipulated in the peace agreement.

He emphasized that the European Union reiterates the importance of unifying the Gaza Strip with the West Bank under the administration of the Palestinian Authority.

Al-Anouni noted that the European Union calls for the urgent implementation of the peace plan for Gaza, expressing its deep regret over the continued catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Strip.

He also called on Israel to immediately allow the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip on a large scale and without hindrance, and to ensure its sustainable distribution.

It is worth noting that the Israeli army recently introduced what has become known as the "orange line," which extends beyond the "yellow line" stipulated in the ceasefire agreement in effect since October 10, 2025.
