RAMALLAH, September 13, 2026 (WAFA) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Saturday welcomed the New Delhi Declaration issued by the 18th BRICS Summit of leaders of member states, held in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, 2026, and its positions and reaffirmations in support of the Palestinian cause.
The ministry particularly welcomed the declaration's rejection of attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinian people from their land, including Jerusalem; its call for an end to the Israeli occupation; its reaffirmation of the two-state solution; its support for the full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations; and its support for an independent, sovereign and viable Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.
It also welcomed the declaration's support for UNRWA and its mandate, as well as its call to protect holy sites and ensure access to them in Jerusalem, protect the Palestinian people, and guarantee unhindered humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
The ministry praised these positions as consistent with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, stressing the need to translate them into practical and concrete steps. It called on the international community to assume its legal and political responsibilities and work to implement and enforce international legitimacy resolutions in a manner that ensures an end to Israeli occupation crimes and violations, as well as all forms of displacement, settlement and annexation.
The ministry further called for the protection of the Palestinian people and for enabling them to exercise their legitimate national rights, foremost among them their inherent right to self-determination.
It stressed that implementing the positions and reaffirmations contained in the BRICS declaration requires ending the Israeli occupation and enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their inalienable rights, including the establishment of their independent and sovereign state on their land, with Jerusalem as its capital.
