RAMALLAH, April 18, 2026 (WAFA) – The foreign ministers of Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Bangladesh, Algeria, Turkey, Indonesia, Pakistan, Kuwait, Mauritania, and Oman strongly condemned Israel's announcement of appointing a diplomatic envoy to the self-declared region of Somaliland, describing it as a blatant violation of the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
In a joint statement, the ministers expressed their complete rejection of all unilateral measures that undermine the unity or sovereignty of states. They reaffirmed their firm support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Somalia and for the legitimate Somali state institutions as the sole representatives of the will of the Somali people.
The ministers also stressed that such measures constitute a clear violation of the principles of international law, the United Nations Charter, and the founding act of the African Union. They warned that the move sets a dangerous precedent that could undermine stability in the Horn of Africa and negatively affect regional peace and security.
