Hormuz Strait fully reopened to commercial vessels for remainder of truce period

TEHRAN, April 17, 2026 (WAFA) – Tehran announced on Friday evening the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to all commercial vessels, on the tenth day of the truce between the United States and Iran.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the move comes in line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, noting that full passage through the strait has been permitted for all commercial vessels for the remainder of the truce period.

He added that vessel transit through the Strait of Hormuz will proceed along the coordinated route previously announced by the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization.

US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday evening that a ten-day ceasefire agreement had been reached between Lebanon and Israel, set to take effect at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time (midnight Beirut time), following contacts with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Lebanese Presidency also announced that a phone call took place between Trump and Aoun, during which the latter expressed appreciation for the efforts exerted to reach a ceasefire in Lebanon and to ensure lasting peace and stability, paving the way for advancing the peace process in the region.
