HEBRON, 16 April 2026 (WAFA) – Hebron Governor Khaled Dudin on Thursday briefed the Belgian Consul General in Jerusalem, Ambassador Anick Van Calster, on the general situation in the governorate, during a meeting held at the governorate headquarters in the presence of Minister of Culture Imad Hamdan.
The governor reviewed the overall conditions in the governorate at the political, economic, security, health, and educational levels, as well as the situation of Palestinian detainees in Israeli occupation prisons.
He also addressed the repercussions of the Israeli occupation government’s decision to withdraw planning and construction powers in the Ibrahimi Mosque from the Hebron Municipality and transfer them to the Israeli Civil Administration.
He pointed to the key challenges facing the governorate amid the continued withholding by the Israeli government of clearance revenues and its impact on the Palestinian economy, in addition to the escalation of occupation measures and colonists’ attacks in the Old City and the Masafer areas.
For her part, the Belgian Consul General expressed her pleasure at visiting the governorate, where she conducted a field tour in the Old City to closely observe the situation on the ground.
She confirmed her commitment to keep the Belgian government informed about the latest developments in Palestine and emphasized the importance of strengthening future communication and cooperation across several fields.
