RAMALLAH, March 23, 2026 (WAFA) – President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas received a phone call on Monday from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, during which they discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the region, strengthening bilateral relations, and issues of common interest.
President Abbas praised Indonesia’s steadfast and supportive stance toward Palestine and its people, expressing gratitude for the aid provided by both the government and the people to the Gaza Strip throughout the ongoing war.
The President said: “We welcomed President Trump’s plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803 to halt the war and alleviate the suffering of our people. We also welcomed Indonesia’s participation in promoting stability and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip," emphasizing the importance of continuing full coordination between the states of Palestine and Indonesia.
The President added that they have always affirmed that the mandate of the executive bodies of the Peace Council is transitional, stressing the necessity of coordinating the work of these bodies in the Gaza Strip with the Palestinian government. He emphasized that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the State of Palestine, and that the sovereignty of Palestinian institutions and laws in Gaza must be upheld and linked with the West Bank.
President Abbas highlighted the importance of consolidating the ceasefire and halting Israeli violations targeting Palestinian civilians, stressing that despite the difficult circumstances in the region, it is essential to begin implementing the second phase of the UN Security Council resolution calling for a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and adherence to the principle of one state, one law, and one legitimate armed force.
The President warned of the dangerous situation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem resulting from Israeli policies of colonial settlement expansion, land annexation, escalating colonist terrorism, and the withholding of Palestinian tax revenues. President Abbas reiterated the gravity of the Israeli occupation authorities' closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre under the pretext of war.
President Abbas described the Israeli authorities’ plans to implement the ‘Greater Israel’ project as a threat to the entire region and the world, undermining the entire political process and violating all UN resolutions and international law, which requires an international stance to compel Israel, the occupying power, to abandon these destructive policies that affect all countries in the region.
The President stressed the need for a comprehensive international conference to achieve peace, stability, and security in the region, including ending the occupation and enabling the Palestinian people to attain their freedom and independence.
President Abbas also reiterated the State of Palestine's position of standing in solidarity with the Gulf States, Jordan, and other countries subjected to Iranian aggression, as well as Lebanon, which is facing brutal Israeli attacks. He also rejected any attacks or violations that infringe upon the sovereignty of these countries and threaten their security and stability.
For his part, the Indonesian President extended his congratulations to the President and the Palestinian people on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, affirming Indonesia’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people and their just cause, as well as its ongoing provision of humanitarian aid and scholarships for Palestinian students.
President Subianto also affirmed that Indonesia will continue coordinating with the State of Palestine after the end of the current war to fulfill its commitments to recovery and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip.
