RAMALLAH, February 19, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday that remarks delivered by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar before the United Nations Security Council amount to political, moral and legal bankruptcy.
In a statement issued in response to Sa’ar’s address to the council a day earlier, the ministry said his speech consists of “recycled allegations and falsehoods” that no longer convince the international community. It accused Israel’s government of committing genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people and of continuing aggression against neighboring countries, calling it a constant source of tension and conflict in the region.
The ministry added that the Israeli foreign minister’s remarks are an attempt to divert attention from the crimes committed against the Palestinian people. It said Sa’ar openly boasted that Israel seeks to undermine the establishment of a Palestinian state and deny Palestinians the right to live in their historic homeland, in defiance of their right to self-determination and the will of the international community.
The ministry also rejected Sa’ar’s characterization of the Palestinian state as “terrorist,” describing the claim as racist rhetoric. It argued that Israel should face accountability, and called on the United Nations to reconsider Israel’s membership, saying that it has failed to meet the conditions tied to its admission, including implementation of UN General Assembly resolutions 181 and 194.
Furthermore, the ministry said Israeli officials, including Sa’ar, should be brought before international courts. It pointed to recent Israeli measures in the West Bank, which it said aim to annex land and displace residents, as evidence of expansionist and discriminatory policies targeting Palestinians in Jerusalem and the West Bank, similar to actions in Gaza.
The statement concluded by affirming that the land of Palestine belongs to the Palestinian people and rejecting any attempts to alter that reality, adding that the Palestinian people will remain on their land and calling on the international community to confront ongoing violations of international law.
