ADDIS ABABA, February 14, 2026 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met on Saturday with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on the sidelines of the 39th African Union Summit in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
During the meeting, Mustafa briefed Guterres on the latest developments in Palestine, particularly the dire humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, as well as the ongoing Israeli occupation measures and colonists’ attacks in the West Bank, including Jerusalem. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Ethiopia and Permanent Observer to the African Union, Faris Al-Qub.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of implementing international resolutions pertaining to Palestine, most recently UN Security Council Resolution 2803 calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the unrestricted entry of urgent humanitarian and relief aid to address the catastrophic situation in the Strip, and the launch of a recovery and reconstruction process.
Mustafa also reviewed Israeli measures in the West Bank, including daily incursions, checkpoints, movement restrictions, colonists’ attacks against Palestinian citizens and their property, the continued withholding of Palestinian clearance revenues, and plans for annexation and colonial settlement expansion.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of ensuring the continued operations of UNRWA and the delivery of its services to Palestine refugees, as well as strengthening joint coordination between the State of Palestine and United Nations institutions and enhancing efforts in the areas of relief and recovery.
