RAMALLAH, January 18, 2026 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on Sunday met with the European Union’s Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, Christophe Bigot, to discuss the latest political developments and the situation on the ground in Palestine. The meeting was attended by Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Estephan Salameh.
During the meeting at his office in Ramallah, Mustafa stressed the importance of supporting United Nations Security Council resolutions related to Palestine, particularly those concerning the Gaza Strip. He underscored the need to open crossings with Gaza, provide temporary shelter, secure the requirements for reconstruction, intensify relief efforts, remove rubble, and support economic recovery.
The Prime Minister called on all parties, especially Israel, to facilitate the work of the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) during the transitional phase by opening crossings and enabling the committee to ease the suffering of the Palestinian people.
Mustafa reaffirmed the geographic, legal, and political unity of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip under the authority of the State of Palestine. He also called for international pressure to secure the release of Palestinian funds withheld by Israel and to halt Israeli measures in the West Bank, including attacks by colonists.
He expressed appreciation for continued European support for Palestine at all levels.
Bigot reaffirmed Europe’s commitment to supporting the two-state solution and the realization of a Palestinian state, as well as continued political, economic, and humanitarian support for Palestinian institutions and the Palestinian people.
