RAMALLAH, December 28, 2025 (WAFA) – Vice President and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein al-Sheikh received Metropolitan Venediktos, Patriarchal Vicar of the Church of the Nativity, on Monday, representing the Greek Orthodox Church of the Nativity.
During the meeting, Metropolitan Venediktos presented the Vice President with an official invitation from Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, on behalf of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, to attend the midnight Mass in Bethlehem for Christmas according to the Eastern Orthodox calendar.
The meeting was also attended by by the official spokesperson of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in Jerusalem, Father Issa Musleh, and the priest of the Church of the Nativity, Archimandrite Issa Thaljiyeh.
Discussions during the meeting emphasized Palestine’s status as a land of divine messages, the importance of fostering hope and unity among followers of different religions, the cohesion of the Palestinian people, and the significance of Christmas as a religious, cultural, and national Palestinian occasion.
The participants further underscored the need for joint efforts to achieve peace and justice and to strengthen the Christian presence in the Holy Land.
