President Abbas receive phone call from Kazakh counterpart

Ramallah, December 8, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas received a phone call from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during which they discussed the latest political developments and the current situation in Palestine, particularly in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and ways to achieve peace in accordance with international law.

President Abbas expressed his gratitude for the call from President Tokayev, praising the relations between the two countries and their peoples.

The President commended Kazakhstan's political stances in support of the legitimate Palestinian rights to freedom and independence, and its commitment to establishing peace in accordance with international law and legitimacy. He also praised Kazakhstan's rejection of settlement activity, annexation, and forced displacement policies. He expressed the appreciation of the Palestinian people and leadership for the significant humanitarian aid provided by Kazakhstan to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

President Abbas briefed his Kazakh counterpart on the firm Palestinian position, which demands a complete cessation of hostilities, a full Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the assumption of administrative and security responsibilities by the State of Palestine in the Strip, and the commencement of the second phase of US President Donald Trump's plan, which we welcomed as a means to end the war and achieve lasting peace. He emphasized that the second phase includes the Palestinian police and security forces assuming their responsibilities, establishing the principle of a single, contiguous state encompassing the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem, with one law and one legitimate armed force, the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, the rejection of any form of division of Gaza, and the commencement of the recovery and reconstruction phase, while preventing further displacement.

He also briefed the Kazakh President on the difficult conditions faced by the Palestinian people in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, including the ongoing incursions by the occupation forces, attacks on Palestinian cities, villages, and refugee camps, the continuation of settlement, annexation, and expansion policies aimed at stealing Palestinian land, the provision of protection and support for settler terrorism, and the continued withholding of Palestinian funds. He called for international intervention to compel the occupying power to cease its unilateral policies, halt settler terrorism, and release the withheld Palestinian funds.

The President noted the continued cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the administration of US President Donald Trump, and all mediators and partners within a coordinated international framework to ensure an end to the war and the implementation of the two-state solution in accordance with international law, ending the occupation as a prerequisite for achieving comprehensive peace in the region.

President  Abbas thanked his Kazakh counterpart for his important message of support for Palestinian rights and for reaffirming Kazakhstan's principled stance in support of achieving peace and stability in the region based on international law and legitimacy.

He welcomed the kind invitation from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to visit Kazakhstan, confirming that he would accept it next year at a time convenient to both sides. He expressed his hope that the visit would contribute to strengthening and enhancing the bonds of friendship between the two countries and their peoples.

For his part, President Tokayev thanked His Excellency for his important message and detailed explanation during the call, in which he provided a comprehensive overview of the situation in Palestine and the Palestinian perspective on political developments.
