Tulkarm Governor briefs commander of Canadian security mission on governorate conditions amid ongoing Israeli aggression

TULKARM, December 3, 2025 (WAFA) – Tulkarm Governor Abdullah Kmail briefed Brigadier Jason Langille, Commander of the Canadian Security Mission, on the situation in the governorate amid the ongoing Israeli aggression against the city and its two refugee camps, Tulkarm and Nur Shams.

During a meeting with the Canadian official on Wednesday, Kmail highlighted the repercussions of the ongoing aggression, including the forced displacement of residents, the systematic destruction of infrastructure, and the demolition of homes.

He also highlighted the difficult humanitarian and living conditions in the governorate due to ongoing violations, including colonists’ attacks on Palestinians in Beit Lid, Ramin, and other towns and villages, as well as the closures and siege imposed on the area.

Kmail conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas and affirmed the Palestinian leadership’s appreciation of Canada’s positions, both government and people alike, including its recognition of the State of Palestine and its steadfast support for the rights of the Palestinian people in their pursuit of freedom, independence, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as its capital.

He warned of the gravity of the situation caused by the occupation aggression and the forced displacement of residents from the Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps, stressing that the aggression has created complex conditions that have clearly affected life in the governorate at the social, economic, security, and educational levels, among other aspects.

The governor also addressed Tulkarm’s deteriorating economic conditions, attributing them to the severely restricted access of Palestinians from the 1948 areas to the governorate, the acute financial crisis triggered by the occupation’s withholding of Palestinian tax revenues, and the forced suspension of Palestinian workers from their jobs inside the 1948 areas.

He explained that these conditions have inflicted serious damage on economic and commercial activity and adversely affected the private sector, with clear repercussions for the overall situation in the governorate, amid the continuing occupation aggression against Tulkarm, its two camps, towns, and villages.

For his part, Brigadier Langille affirmed his keenness to gain a direct understanding of the governorate’s conditions, coordinate positions, and follow up on its needs amid the difficult circumstances it is facing. He reiterated Canada’s supportive stance toward the Palestinian people and its commitment to assisting them.
