TEL AVIV, December 1, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared before the Tel Aviv District Court on Monday for the first time since requesting a pardon from President Isaac Herzog regarding his long-standing corruption cases.
Netanyahu asked the Israeli president on Sunday for clemency from the corruption charges that have followed him for years.
The request has sparked a deep division in Israeli society, with some supporting it and others opposing it unless Netanyahu pleads guilty and steps away from politics, according to statements from the Israeli opposition.
According to Israeli's Channel 12, Netanyahu's hearing began on Monday, "without the judges addressing the pardon request."
The channel added that Netanyahu requested a postponement of his court appearance scheduled for Tuesday, citing "diplomatic and security commitments." The judges said that they would consider the request.
Netanyahu faces charges of corruption, bribery, and breach of trust in three separate cases, which could lead to imprisonment if he is convicted. He denies all charges.
- Case 1000 involves allegations that Netanyahu and his family received valuable gifts from businessmen in exchange for favors and assistance in various fields.
- Case 2000, Netanyahu is accused of negotiating with Arnon Mozes, publisher of the Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharonot, to secure positive media coverage.
- Case 4000 concerns allegations that Netanyahu granted favors to Shaul Elovitch, the former owner of the Walla! news website and a former executive at the Bezeq telecommunications company, also in exchange for positive media coverage.
