RAMALLAH, November 22, 2025 (WAFA) – The Governing Body of the International Labour Organization (ILO) unanimously adopted a new resolution on Friday aimed at strengthening the organization’s support for the three social partners in Palestine and intensifying efforts to respond to the urgent needs of workers and employers, as well as advancing the recovery and reconstruction program.
The resolution noted the progress made in the Emergency Response Plan and the Recovery Programme, commending the ILO Office’s efforts in addressing the urgent needs of Palestinian workers and employers.
The Governing Body also acknowledged the financial contributions made by some member states and called on the remaining states to provide support to ensure the full implementation of the organization’s programs in Palestine, thereby contributing to the promotion of decent work and social justice.
The resolution encouraged the social partners, in partnership with the ILO, to prioritize sustainable financing for Palestinian employment programs, including support for the Palestinian Employment Fund as the primary national framework for implementing decent work programs, as well as support for labor-intensive initiatives and entrepreneurship programs.
The Council welcomed the plan to hold a resource mobilization meeting on the sidelines of the 356th session of the Governing Body in March 2026, with the participation of development partners, Governing Body members, and relevant bodies, with the aim of expanding support for the ILO’s work programme in Palestine.
The Council requested the Director-General to include the outcomes of this meeting in the annex to the report on “The Situation of Workers in the Occupied Arab Territories” submitted to the 114th session of the International Labour Conference.
The Council also requested continued efforts to support the rights of Palestinian workers and employers, ensure their access to workplaces, and address long-term priorities.
