RAMALLAH, October 14, 2025 (WAFA) – Minister of National Economy Mohammad Al-Amour called on Germany to recognize the State of Palestine, stressing that such recognition represents a genuine investment in the two-state solution and in reviving the political horizon for a just peace.
This came during a speech he delivered today, Tuesday, on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, at a ceremony organized by the Representative Office of the Federal Republic of Germany to the State of Palestine, headed by Ambassador Anke Schlimm, marking the German Unity Day.
Al-Amour affirmed that Germany’s recognition of the State of Palestine would be the strongest message of hope to the Palestinian people and a significant step toward ending the occupation and realizing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
At the beginning of his speech, the minister conveyed President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa’s greetings and congratulations to the government and people of Germany on the occasion of their National Unity Day, noting that the German reunification experience serves as a profound source of inspiration for the Palestinian people in their pursuit of freedom, unity, and sovereignty.
He also urged Germany to support international efforts aimed at addressing the Palestinian economic crisis and to expedite the disbursement of the €30 million emergency German contribution.
Furthermore, he called for Germany’s active participation in relief, recovery, and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip, in accordance with the Palestinian national and UN-supported plan grounded in the principle of the unity of Palestinian land, emphasizing that reconstruction is not merely a physical process but also a means of restoring trust and hope for the future.
In conclusion, the minister underscored the importance of Germany remaining a consistent and principled voice in upholding international law and human rights, and in rejecting all unilateral measures that contravene these principles, including colonial settlement expansion and land confiscation.
For her part, Ambassador Anke Schlimm said that the end of the war in Gaza provides an opportunity for reconciliation, stressing that Germany remains committed to the two-state solution.
