JERUSALEM, September 7, 2025 (WAFA) – Jerusalem, September 7, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces today detained a member of the administrative board of a local sports club and a Palestinian lawyer in occupied Jerusalem.
Israeli forces detained Amin Maragha, a board member of Silwan Sports Club, after stopping his vehicle and leading him to the Russian Compound interrogation center, known as "Al-Maskobiya," in Jerusalem.
Israeli forces also detained attorney Amir Maragha while he was passing through the Ras al-Amud neighborhood in the town of Silwan, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. He was taken to the Al-Maskobiya interrogation center in western Jerusalem.
For years, the occupied city of Jerusalem has been the target of a systematic campaign of arrests by Israeli authorities, affecting hundreds of residents annually, including national figures, athletes, activists, and journalists.
These detentions are part of an effort to suppress popular and national mobilization in the city, with detainees frequently subjected to harsh interrogations and administrative detention without charge or trial in Israeli prisons.
