Jordan condemns Israeli Finance Minister's incursion into Palestinian land and hostile remarks

AMMAN, September 3, 2025 (WAFA) – The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Wednesday condemned Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's incursion into occupied Palestinian territory, along with his hostile and racist remarks advocating the annexation of the occupied West Bank, rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state, and threatening the Palestinian National Authority.

The ministry said such actions represent a blatant violation of international law, a dangerous and unacceptable escalation, and a challenge to the international community’s consensus on the two-state solution, stressing that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian land.

Jordanian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Fuad Al-Majali reaffirmed Jordan’s absolute rejection and strong condemnation of repeated provocative incursions and inflammatory statements by Israeli government extremists. He warned that the absence of accountability and the culture of impunity encourage Israel’s ongoing aggressions and incitement against the Palestinian people and leadership.

Al-Majali stressed that these remarks, coupled with the continuation of the war on Gaza and the ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people, cannot undermine Palestinian rights or the justice of their cause. He said the Israeli government’s extremists are seeking to entrench the illegal occupation and colonial settlement expansion, and to impose policies of forced displacement in clear violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334.

He further warned against Israel’s unlawful unilateral actions and racist rhetoric, which aim to impose new realities by force, escalate tensions in the occupied West Bank, and endanger regional peace and stability.

Jordan reiterated its categorical rejection of colonialism and forced displacement, stressing that the only path to lasting security and stability lies in ending the occupation and realizing an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Al-Majali urged the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities, compel Israel to halt its aggression on Gaza and escalation in the West Bank, curb its officials' incitement, and ensure protection for the Palestinian people while upholding their legitimate rights to independence and statehood, and holding perpetrators of crimes accountable.
