Vice President meets with Saudi Crown Prince

RIYADH, September 1, 2025 (WAFA) – Vice President of the State of Palestine, Hussein Al-Sheikh, met with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the Royal Court in Riyadh.

The Vice President of the State of Palestine conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and his Crown Prince, expressing thanks and appreciation for the Kingdom's steadfast positions and great efforts in supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause at all levels.

For his part, the Crown Prince conveyed his greetings to President Mahmoud Abbas, stressing the importance of continuing efforts to garner international recognition of the State of Palestine and supporting efforts aimed at the success of the international peace conference scheduled to be held in New York on September 22.

During the meeting, the latest developments in the Palestinian territories were discussed, including the visa ban on the Palestinian delegation to the United Nations, and ways to garner international recognition of the Palestinian state during the upcoming international conference.

The dangerous situation in the West Bank and Jerusalem was also discussed, including settlement activity, colonists' violence, and the withholding of tax revenues.

Regarding the Gaza Strip, the priority was emphasized: an immediate ceasefire, the entry of aid, the State of Palestine assuming responsibility for the Gaza Strip and linking it to the West Bank under Palestinian sovereignty, the full Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and reconstruction with Arab and international support.

The two sides affirmed the continued close coordination between the State of Palestine and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to confront current challenges and strengthen Arab and international efforts aimed at ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
