JERUSALEM, September 1, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces stormed the vicinity of a Palestinian-owned school in Silwan on Monday, coinciding with a protest held by teachers and students.
Local sources said that the occupation forces stormed the vicinity of the Silwan Preparatory School for Boys, coinciding with a protest organized by residents and students against the occupation's arbitrary policies of relocating the school and Israelizing the curriculum.
The soldiers gave participants only a few minutes to disperse.
The Central Parents' Committee in Silwan and Ras al-Amud announced on Sunday evening a comprehensive, open-ended strike in all schools in the town, starting this morning, in protest against the unjust and arbitrary measures and decisions taken by the occupation municipality against schools and students in the area.
The committee clarified, in a statement, that these decisions directly affect students' right to education and threaten their academic future, stressing that it "will not back down from its protest steps until the decisions are rescinded and legitimate demands are met."
The committee called on all parents to fully adhere to the strike and not send their children to school, emphasizing that the goal of this step is to defend students' sacred right to education.
The committee affirmed that these arbitrary measures are part of the occupation's ongoing attempts to impose its control over the education sector in occupied Jerusalem, noting that the residents of Silwan and Ras al-Amud will continue their legitimate struggle until justice is achieved and their children's futures are protected.
