Tens of thousands of worshippers attend Friday prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque amid Israeli military restrictions

JERUSALEM, August 29, 2025 (WAFA) – Tens of thousands of worshippers performed the Friday noon prayer today at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, despite the heavy military restrictions imposed by Israeli forces.

Local sources reported that Israeli troops tightened their security measures around the Old City of Jerusalem, obstructing the movement of worshippers and their access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Police forces deployed among the worshippers during the prayer, creating a heightened security presence at the site.

The Jerusalem Waqf warned against the escalation of colonists’ incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the months of September and October, coinciding with the Jewish holidays. colonists are expected to exploit these periods to intensify their incursions and impose new Judaization rituals within the mosque.

These incursions, which include raising Israeli flags and performing Jewish rituals, such as what is known as 'epic prostration,' blowing the shofar, bringing plant offerings and temple artifacts, and transforming the eastern part of the mosque into a miniature synagogue, take place under the protection of Israeli forces.

Last year, the so-called "Temple" groups recorded the highest number of incursions during these holidays compared to previous years.
