NABLUS, August 19, 2025, WAFA – Israeli colonists began establishing a new illegal colonial outpost on Tuesday on the lands of Aqraba town, south of Nablus, according to a local activist.
Yousef Deiriyeh, an anti-colonial-settlement activist, told WAFA that the colonists erected tents, placed caravans, and raised Israeli flags on the western slope of Mount Qarqafa, facing the town’s entrance.
According to a report by the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, colonists carried out 466 attacks against Palestinians and their property across the West Bank during July alone. These assaults resulted in the killing of four Palestinians and the forced displacement of two Bedouin communities comprising 50 families.
The report also noted that colonists attempted to establish 15 new colonial outposts, most of which were agricultural or pastoral in nature. These included five outposts in Hebron Governorate, two each in Salfit, Bethlehem, Ramallah, and Jericho, and one each in Tubas and Jenin.
Meanwhile, colonists, under heavy protection from Israeli occupation forces, stormed the archaeological site in the town of Sebastia, north of Nablus, on Tuesday. The forces closed the site and the roads leading to it, preventing Palestinian residents from accessing the area, according to Sebastia Mayor Mohammad Azem.
