JERUSALEM, August 14, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities forced a Palestinian resident to self-demolish a large part of his home in the town of Silwan, south of occupied Jerusalem.
Local sources reported that the occupation authorities compelled Ammar Qaraeen to tear down a large part of his house, located in the Wadi Hilweh neighborhood of Silwan.
Israeli authorities force Palestinians, particularly in occupied Jerusalem, to self-demolish their homes under the pretext of lacking a permit. Those who refuse to do so are subjected to demolition by bulldozers, imposing exorbitant costs on the owner.
The Jerusalem municipality refuses to grant Palestinians building permits, demolishes their homes or forces them to do so. This practice violates international and humanitarian laws that guarantee the right to housing.
This practice is part of the occupation's systematic practices of forcibly displacing Palestinians from the city of Jerusalem in an attempt to pave the way for the expansion of colonies in and around the city.
