JERUSALEM, August 5, 2025 (WAFA) - The United Kingdom expressed its sorrow over the killing of Palestinian human rights defender Odeh al-Hathalin at the hands of an Israeli colonist in the village of Umm al-Khair, east of Yatta.
In a post published on X, the UK Consulate General in Jerusalem stated: "We're deeply saddened by the killing of Palestinian human rights defender Odeh Hathaleen. We call for the immediate and unconditional release of his body so his family can hold a respectful funeral in Um AlKhair. There must be accountability for settler violence. Impunity must end."
Hathalinn, 31, was shot and killed by extremist colonist, Yanun Levi, on July 28, as Palestinian residents attempted to stop a bulldozer that had stormed their agricultural land, accompanied by colonists.
The occupation court in Jerusalem released the settler Levi and placed him under house arrest, despite the killing being documented in video footage and despite Levi previously being listed on sanctions lists in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom for his involvement in settler terrorism.
The number of withheld bodies of Palestinians killed, whether in numbered graves or the occupation’s morgues, currently stands at 727.
