GAZA, August 2, 2025 (WAFA) – Six Palestinians were killed and several others wounded on Saturday afternoon when Israeli occupation forces opened fire on aid seekers near Wadi Gaza and along the Netzarim Corridor, both located in central Gaza. The victims had gathered in the area in search of food aid, local sources reported.

Earlier in the day, 12 more Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation forces under similar circumstances near the same corridor, bringing the total number of people killed while waiting for aid since dawn to 18.

The killings come amid severe shortages of food and medical supplies throughout the Gaza Strip, a result of the complete closure of all crossings by Israeli occupation authorities since March 2, 2025. The blockade has triggered a widespread famine, particularly affecting vulnerable groups.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has warned that malnutrition among children under five has doubled between March and June due to the ongoing siege. The World Health Organization also reported alarming levels of acute malnutrition in Gaza, with nearly one in five children under five in Gaza City affected.

The WHO added that the ongoing blockade and delays in aid delivery have led to numerous preventable deaths and further deterioration of the humanitarian situation.

The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 2023 has so far resulted in at least 60,332 documented Palestinian fatalities, with over 147,643 others injured.

Thousands of victims are feared trapped under rubble, inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams due to Israeli attacks.

Israel's genocidal attacks continue unabated despite calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and directives from the International Court of Justice urging measures to prevent genocide and alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
