RAMALLAH, July 31, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas received a phone call on Thursday evening from Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, during which he emphasized the urgent need to achieve an immediate and lasting ceasefire and expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid to end the war of starvation.
President Abbas also asserted the need to secure the release of hostages and prisoners and ensure that the State of Palestine assumes full responsibility in the Gaza Strip alongside a complete Israeli withdrawal. He also stressed the importance of comprehensive calm in the West Bank to halt settlement expansion, annexation attempts, settler violence, and the release of withheld Palestinian funds, as well as an end to the attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites.
President Abbas praised the outcomes of the recent International Peace Conference in New York, underlining the need to build upon these results during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September and beyond.
He also welcomed the Netherlands’ declaration of commitment to international law as the foundation for the political process based on a two-state solution, as well as the sanctions imposed by the Dutch government on Israeli colonists. He affirmed the important role the Netherlands can play in advancing peace and stability in the region.
The two leaders agreed to continue coordination and joint efforts to achieve peace and to strengthen bilateral relations between the State of Palestine and the Netherlands across various fields.
