Saudi FM: We are determined to turn Int'l consensus on two-state solution into tangible reality

NEW YORK, July 28, 2025 (WAFA) – Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said today that the resumption of the high-level international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution reflects broad international consensus that the only way to end this protracted conflict and the cycle of violence and suffering is the actual implementation of the two-state solution based on United Nations resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the land-for-peace principle.

During a joint press conference with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot at the United Nations headquarters in New York, he added that Saudi Arabia, in cooperation with France and all partners, is determined to transform this international consensus into a tangible reality.

He noted that the time has come to end this conflict, embody the Palestinian state, and achieve a just and comprehensive peace that preserves the sovereignty and security of all peoples in the region.

He praised French President Emmanuel Macron's announcement of his country's intention to recognize the State of Palestine, saying that it is a historic step that embodies the international community's support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Bin Farhan stated that peace between Israel and Palestine is a fundamental gateway to achieving comprehensive regional peace, in which everyone enjoys security, opening horizons for cooperation, integration, and achieving shared prosperity.

He pointed out that the conference is convening at a critical moment, amid a worsening humanitarian crisis marked by starvation, severe violations, ongoing forced displacement, and other unilateral actions that threaten the two-state solution, primarily colonial expansion, forced displacement, and attempts of annexation.

He also stressed the necessity of immediately ending the war in Gaza and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, expressing the Kingdom's categorical rejection of any attempts to separate the Gaza Strip from the rest of the Palestinian state's territories, or to occupy, besiege, or displace its residents under any pretext or justification.

The Saudi minister highly valued President Mahmoud Abbas's speech on July 9th, which included his commitment to peace as a strategic option, working to enable the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate rights through peaceful means, and undertaking all necessary reforms in this regard.

He also expressed the Kingdom's commitment to supporting the efforts of the Palestinian National Authority in reform and good governance, and working jointly with the international community to support Gaza's reconstruction efforts in accordance with the Arab-Islamic plan, which has received widespread international welcome.

For his part, the French Foreign Minister said that the conference aimed to mobilize the international community to provide the necessary political prospects to achieve a ceasefire, noting that the primary goal is to send a clear message that peace is now possible, and that the conference offers an alternative to this war in the region, which is the two-state solution.

He added that the French President committed to recognizing the State of Palestine in the upcoming General Assembly session in September, and that through this decision, France affirms the Palestinians' right to self-determination in the face of these realities on the ground, the humanitarian tragedy, and the danger they face.
