CAIRO, July 28, 2025 (WAFA) – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stressed on Monday that Egypt’s positions have always been constructive, consistently calling for an end to the war in Gaza and a peaceful settlement to the Palestinian cause based on the two-state solution.
Speaking in a televised address on the situation in the Gaza Strip, President el-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s firm rejection of any attempt to displace the Palestinian people from their land, warning that such forced displacement would render the two-state solution meaningless.
He stressed that Egypt cannot play a passive role when it comes to its Palestinian brothers and sisters.
El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s commitment to working positively with Qatar and the United States to end the war in Gaza, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, and secure the release of hostages. He asserted that Egypt’s role is honorable, sincere, and trustworthy, and that it will not change.
The Egyptian president also emphasized that Cairo is committed to finding solutions to end the war in Gaza and facilitate the flow of humanitarian assistance.
He said Egypt has listened to the urgent appeals in recent days and has remained over the past several months determined to deliver the largest possible volume of aid to Gaza, which is facing dire and tragic circumstances.
El-Sisi revealed that Egypt has a significant number of aid trucks ready and waiting to enter the Gaza Strip, noting that under normal circumstances, the Strip requires between 600 and 700 trucks per day and emphasizing the importance of delivering the largest possible volume of aid to the people of Gaza to alleviate the severity of the crisis.
He explained that the border crossings between Egypt and Gaza include the Rafah and Kerem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) crossings, while there are more than five crossings in total linking the Gaza Strip from both the Egyptian and Palestinian sides.
He confirmed that the Rafah crossing is primarily for pedestrian traffic and its operation depends not only on the Egyptian side but also on the Palestinian side within the Gaza Strip, adding that there are no obstacles preventing the entry of aid into Gaza, and stressed the necessity of keeping the Rafah crossing open from the Palestinian side.
In a direct appeal, el-Sisi addressed U.S. President Donald Trump, stating that he is the one capable of stopping the war, bringing in aid, and ending this suffering.
He also urged all nations to do everything in their power to stop the war and ensure the entry of aid.
