JERUSALEM, July 28, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities on Monday forced Palestinian resident Yousef Qara’in to demolish his own home in the town of Jabal al-Mukabber, located southeast of occupied Jerusalem, according to local sources.
They said that Qaraeen's home, which has stood for 12 years and covers an area of 70 square meters — housed Qara’in, his wife, and their daughter.
The demolition came after the occupation authorities imposed several fines on Qaraeen, accusing him of building without a permit. These fines amounted to more than 100,000 shekels.
This demolition is part of a border Israeli policy that compels Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem to carry out the demolition themselves, under the pretext of lacking a permit. Those who refuse face the destruction of their homes by Israeli bulldozers
These violations are part of the occupation's systematic practices of forcibly displacing Palestinians from Jerusalem in exchange for expanding colonies in and around the city.
Since the beginning of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, Israeli authorities have demolished 623 structures in occupied Jerusalem alone.
