RAMALLAH, July 27, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Ministry of Education announced today the results of the first round of the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Approximately 46,000 students in the West Bank and around 2,000 Palestinian students from the Gaza Strip currently residing abroad sat for the exams. For the second consecutive year, students in Gaza were unable to participate due to the ongoing Israeli genocide.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to organizing exams for students in Gaza as soon as the war ends.
According to figures released by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, since the start of the Israeli military aggression on Gaza and the West Bank in October 2023, a total of 16,607 students have been killed and 26,271 injured.
Of those killed, more than 16,470 were in the Gaza Strip, with 25,374 injured. In the West Bank, 137 students were reported killed and 897 injured. Additionally, 754 students have been detained.
The Ministry also reported that 914 teachers and administrative staff have been killed in both Gaza and the West Bank, while 4,363 have been injured. Over 196 educators have also been detained in the West Bank.
