Occupation forces detain 14 Palestinian workers in Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, July 23, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces detained 14 Palestinian workers today in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabal al-Mukaber, under the pretext of "not possessing permits."

The workers were seeking work and a decent livelihood for their families.

In recent months, hundreds of Palestinian workers have been subjected to detentions and abuse by Israeli police within the 1948 territories, or by Israeli occupation forces in Jerusalem, under the pretext of "not possessing permits."

Palestinian workers who do hold permits also suffer when heading to their workplaces. Their day begins very early before dawn, and they wait for hours at occupation military checkpoints, where they undergo abusive inspection procedures before continuing on their way to work.

More than 150,000 workers from the West Bank have lost their jobs within the 1948 territories due to Israeli restrictions imposed on workers' access to workplaces since October 2023, according to a World Bank report.
