GAZA, July 23, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Journalists' Syndicate said today that the Israeli occupation recorded a new crime in its bloody record by assassinating colleague journalist Walaa Al-Jaabari, after targeting her residential apartment in the Tal Al-Hawa neighborhood, southwest of Gaza City.
The attack led to the killing of Al-Jaabar, along with her husband and children in a chilling scene, the syndicate said in a statement.
The syndicate slammed this heinous crime as part of a systematic policy adopted by the Israeli occupation to intimidate and silence journalists by directly targeting them and their families inside their homes.
"The occupation has crossed all red lines. It no longer suffices with killing journalists in the field during coverage; rather, it deliberately kills them inside their homes and among their children, in an attempt to extinguish the light of truth and subjugate the Palestinian media by force of fire and blood," the statement read.
The Syndicate held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the killing of colleague Walaa Al-Jaabari and her family, stressing that these crimes will not intimidate Palestinian journalists but will instead increase their determination to carry out their professional and national mission.
It demanded that these crimes be referred to the International Criminal Court, considering them full-fledged war crimes, urging international journalistic and media organizations to break their silence and side with the truth, instead of colluding with the killer.
"The blood of colleague Walaa Al-Jaabari and her family will remain a living testament to the occupation's criminality, and proof that the battle was never just on the ground, but also over awareness, narrative, and truth,” the statement said.
