GAZA, July 20, 2025 (WAFA) – Medical sources in Gaza reported on Sunday that the number of casualties in the so-called "death traps" of aid distribution sites targeted by Israeli forces has reached 995 fatalities, 6,011 injuries, and 45 individuals reported missing since May 27.
The sources confirmed that all victims were civilians attempting to access food aid before these distribution sites were turned into killing fields, subjected to direct sniper and gunfire attacks by Israeli forces, in a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and human rights principles.
In a related incident, a civilian was killed on Sunday evening after being shot by an Israeli “Quadcopter” reconnaissance drone while at a gas station on Al-Hakr Street, south of Deir al-Balah city in central Gaza.
According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, the overall death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression since October 7, 2023, has reached 58,895, with 140,980 injured.
Many victims remain trapped under rubble or in the streets, with rescue and ambulance teams unable to reach them due to heavy bombardment and the dangerous conditions on the ground.
This latest escalation comes as the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, with UN agencies warning of a looming disaster for millions of Palestinians living under siege. The crisis is exacerbated by the ongoing attacks on shelters and aid distribution areas, the closure of border crossings, and the blockade on the entry of essential humanitarian and medical supplies.
