Israeli forces destroy main water pipeline in Umm Safa village near Ramallah

RAMALLAH, July 18, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces on Friday destroyed a main water pipeline in the village of Umm Safa, located northwest of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

Marwan Al-Sabbah, head of the Umm Safa village council, told WAFA that the Israeli forces deliberately targeted the village's main water supply line while bulldozing the western entrance to the village. He described the move as part of a broader punitive policy against the residents of Umm Safa.

The destruction affected approximately 15 meters of the pipeline, which is part of a 15-kilometer-long main water network that supplies the entire village.

Al-Sabbah stated that the damage has left all 1,000 residents of Umm Safa without access to water.

He also noted that the village council is in urgent contact with various authorities and institutions in an effort to coordinate the repair of the pipeline. However, reconstruction efforts are being hindered by the fact that the village entrance has remained closed by Israeli forces since October 7, 2023, making the entry of equipment and machinery contingent on Israeli approval.
