AMMAN, July 16, 2025 (WAFA) —The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates warned of Israel's resumption of the "E1" colonial project, which aims to construct over 3,000 new colonial units east of occupied Jerusalem.
The ministry declared that such actions constitute a blatant violation of international law and a clear undermining of the two-state solution and the Palestinian people's right to embody their independent, sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.
In a statement, the ministry reiterated Jordan's absolute rejection and severe condemnation of any Israeli attempts to impose control over the West Bank, separating its north from its south.
This, the statement emphasized, is a flagrant breach of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which condemns all Israeli measures aimed at altering the demographic composition, character, and status of the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem.
The ministry also cited the International Court of Justice's advisory opinion, which affirmed the illegality of the Israeli occupation and the nullity of settlement construction and annexation measures in West Bank lands.
The ministry also raised alarm over circulating media reports regarding the transfer of administrative powers and oversight of the Ibrahimi Mosque to colonial entities, warning that this reflects a continuation of unilateral Israeli policies that violate international law and relevant UN resolutions, in an attempt to fully seize the Ibrahimi Mosque and alter its Islamic and Arab identity.
The ministry reaffirmed that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory and that all its actions in the West Bank are illegitimate and unlawful.
The Jordanian foreign ministry called upon the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities by compelling Israel and its extremist government to immediately cease its aggression in Gaza, its dangerous escalation, and its illegitimate expansionist measures in the occupied West Bank.
It further urged the international community to provide the necessary protection for the Palestinian people, fulfill their legitimate rights to establish their independent state on their national soil, halt crimes against them, and hold those responsible accountable.
